The only other scoring term would be "Chipped in" which means you got the ball into the hole without putting. Wind does not matter on putting though so you can ignore it when you are putting. If the wind is strong from a side direction be sure to aim the ball towards the wind as the wind will push the ball back on course. the ball will bounce on impact!Īlso keep the wind gauge in mind when aiming your swing. When deciding how hard to swing the club keep the map view in mind and do not forget. The power bar on the lower left part of the screen and the blue dotted line on the map view are essentially the same thing. You have several clubs to choose from driver, iron, wedge and putter but you needn't worry about it as the game picks the best one for you. Yes, landing in the water on the higher number courses is also considered out of bounds! Out of bounds - This is where the ball goes when it is beyond even the rough! You will get a one stroke penalty and your ball will be relocated to the nearest edge of the fairway.Do worry about the lay of the land though because when you are on a hill gravity does take over! Use the putter here and don't worry about the wind. Green - This is the light green area around the hole.Get your ball stuck in here and it's wedge-city for you! One dot wedge-city that is! Rough - Just like the name says this is the rough area that is not the fairway! Landing here is bad for you as it limits your power meter to two points. As long as your ball stays on the fairway you should have no problem picking a club and using it properly. There are a few terms you need to be familiar with before we can begin. Wii Sports Golf is more than just hitting a ball with a stick. Why not just sit down for a few minutes and learn? Don't get discouraged, everyone hits a bad golf shot from time to time. So, you think you know how to play golf? You think you can just grab that Wi-mote and start sinking some holes in one? Guess again! Wii Sports Golf is not as simple to play as that. You won't have to worry about wind or water or sand traps as much as you do on the more difficult courses. To get better at Wii golf you need to practice. This means it will be more difficult to hit a straight shot. In Wii-golf, when you hit the ball into the rough or the sand traps, you get a much shorter power bar when you go to hit the shot. Tip: Try not to hit the ball in the rough or in sand traps. The greens are not always flat, and the golf ball will not always roll straight. These will give you a clue as to how the ball will roll once you hit it. Tip: When putting with the Wii-mote, look at the contours or lines on the golf green. Practice will help you to learn how to line up your golf shot while accounting for the wind. If the wind arrow is red and the wind is really blowing you will need to make a pretty good adjustment on how you line up the shot. Tip: Look at the wind when lining up your golf shot. So, if you are aiming for the golf hole, try to get the ball to land some distance before the hole and then let it roll to the hole. Keep in mind that the golf ball will then bounce and roll for additional distance. This is where the ball will land (not including adjustment for the wind). Tip: The marks on the Wii power bar match up to the marks shown when lining up your golf shot. Sometimes this can work out to your advantage, but it's very tough to control. If you go past the ball will hook or slice. When trying to hit the ball far, the trick is to get as close to the end of the blue bar without going past it. You can practice swing before hand by swinging without the A button pushed down. When taking a golf swing with the Wii-mote you hold down the A button and swing the Wii-mote just like you would a real golf club. The putter: The putter is used on the green. You won't be able to hit it very far, but it will be fairly accurate. The wedge: The wedge is for short golf shots near the green. Where you need to hit the ball far, but accurate. The Iron: The iron is for mid-range golf shots. It's not as accurate as some of the other golf clubs, but will hit the ball the furthest. The Driver: The driver is for hitting the ball far. There are different types of golf clubs you will get to select when playing: There are a certain number of strokes for par on each hole and there are par 3, 4, and 5 golf holes. The fewer the strokes it takes you to hit the golf ball into the hole, the better. You can also choose to play all 9 holes in one game. There are three golf holes for each of the difficulties. There are three difficulty levels: Beginner, Intermediate, and Expert. Wii golf is a great way to get acquainted with the game of golf and it can be loads of fun.
