![]() ![]() I want people to question what gender means, and what makes me a man. I do a unique combination of drag and burlesque as an androgynous performer, fluidly going back and forth from masculine, feminine, and then dancing in between – however I am very adamant about the world knowing that I am still male, still using he\him pronouns and call myself a King, even if my nails are an inch long, some parts are shaved and/or tucked, and I’m prancing around in heels and a garter. I think what makes me original is that because I don’t do things the way people expect me to, I stand out. I have been doing this kind of stuff professionally for more than twenty years and not all of it was easy, though creating has always come naturally to me. So when I have a crazy idea, it may take me a few years and many different attempts, but I’ll eventually figure it out! Competing pushed me to better my talents and I’m very proud of the awards I’ve worked hard to win (more than 60 at this point, oof I’m old). If I’m succeeding and enjoying, then it is right. I think there is very little I do in my artistic endeavors that I do ‘by the book’, and I like it that way, even when people try to tell me that it’s wrong. I taught myself most everything I know, purely by deciding I was going to do it, sitting down, and f*cking around, haha. I enjoy learning new things and what I can do. I guess I am just the type of person that pushes myself higher and farther. ![]() And as a bonus, I love having people come up to me and say they really enjoy what I create, and that I’ve also inspired them to do what they desire!Ĭan you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work. It doesn’t feel like work when you’re so, so happy. I am now fortunate enough after many, many years to use it as my main work as well as enjoyment. It’s certainly difficult at times, but I always tell everyone that it’s absolutely worth the struggle to be on my own schedule, doing something my heart is completely enveloped in. I both love and hate that I’m so stubborn, because it gave me the drive to focus on my own stuff even if I experienced some hardships. My list of art that I have done could go on forever! I have also done my fair share of a ‘traditional job’, but on the side I’d still be creating. I’ve done all sorts of both traditional and digital art when I was growing up, moved to teaching myself how to sew which turned into costume competitions, which evolved into my love for the stage and the bright lights, and then I took the dive to become a performer – starting out with drag and using it to push myself into being braver and stepping into (or out of, haha) burlesque. ![]() Honestly I’ve been an artist of some sort all my life.
